Thanks for sharing. I’m so glad you were able to get your migraines under control!

Respectfully, I don’t fully agree that all migraines are curable (or can be tamed) by changing one’s diet (though diet absolutely can play a huge role in the frequency or severity of migraine headaches). I’ve been getting migraines since I was about 4. They’re hereditary; my mom, grandmother, aunt, and cousins have all suffered from them, and I have a sense that my son is beginning to get them.

As I’ve aged, I’ve managed to figure out my triggers — lack of sleep, heat, stress, lack of exercise, and hormones are the big ones. Skipping meals or eating just junk (all carbs, no proteins, too much sugar) can have a big impact, too, but otherwise, specific foods don’t really affect whether I get a migraine or how bad it will be.

I think elimination diets are a great way to determine how food is affecting one’s overall health and if someone can tame or eliminate their migraines as a result, that’s wonderful. I’m all for reducing the need for meds (and sleep in a dark room). I just know from my own family’s experience that migraines impact each individual differently — from the triggers to the symptoms to the response to treatment — so an elimination diet might not be the fix for everyone.
