Oh, Rebecca Lyman, I feel your pain. It’s been many years since I was in college but I was broke for all of my twenties. And even back then there was enormous pressure to take part in every extra-curricular activity, maintain a robust social life, do great in school, work on the side, and get at least 8 hours of sleep. Oh, and don’t forget to make your dreams come true — if you don’t, you have only yourself to blame.

Obviously, none of this is realistic. Hopefully in a few years you’ll be in a better place to pursue your long-term goals without the weight of college and debt hanging over your head. In the meantime, don’t let advice columns get you down. Remember that anyone writing an advice-type piece (myself included) are coming at it from their own individual perspective, so if something doesn’t feel right for you, shrug it off. Or, better yet, write your own advice column and contribute your voice to the conversation. :)

Thanks for reading and commenting!
