I loved this piece. I wanted nothing to do with children until I hit my mid-30s. Then all I wanted was to be pregnant. It took over a year and I was obsessed — like, once I made up my mind that I wanted to have a child, it’s all I could think about. Then I had my son and it was really, really, really hard. And there were moments early on when I wondered if I’d made the right choice.

Now he’s six and I can’t imagine life without him. Our family life is great. BUT, I don’t want another. And I think if I hadn’t had my son my life would have been just as great, but in different ways.

Point is, there are no right or wrong answers. Whatever you decide will be the correct choice for you at the time and in the end, things will work out. I think the real question is why others feel the need to pressure you to have a child. What’s missing from their lives that YOU giving birth would somehow fix?
