Defending My Name

So, apparently, I’m in a fight with another writer. Maybe? Kind of?

I don’t really know, because I don’t typically get into these sorts of things. I’m not a “rock the boat” kind of person. I’m the emotional Libra who wants balance and hopes we can all just get along.

But last week, an editor/writer on Medium did something that I felt wasn’t fair to another writer — he fired her from writing for his publications because he felt, in part, that she was too “pro-Medium.” He sent her an email in which he told her, among other things, that she’ll soon run out of material — he knows it, her followers know it, and it’s only a matter of time before the claps and the reads stop coming.

He then fired a second writer because she’d left a positive, “pro-Medium” comment on the first writer’s article.

So, later that day, three of us chose to stop publishing with him and were quickly blocked from seeing his Medium page or his Tweets.

I was sad. I felt as though a friendship had been cut off, all because I wanted to support another writer. So, I wrote a post about it:
